How do I protect my private data?

A simple friending request

The .tel enables you to protect your private data with a simple 'friending' request.
Your friends send you a 'friending request'. You accept their 'friending request' and only then can they see your private data.

Configuring your privacy

When you configure your .tel you can decide which information should be made public and which should remain private.

Data you choose to make available to 'everyone' will become visible to all.
.tel Privacy tab - Choose 'Visible to Everyone or Friends' for each piece of contact information

Friending requests

To access your private information, your friends will need to login.

Once they login, they can send you a friending request.
'You are logged in as Ben. You are currently not friended with Emma. Send a friending request.'

If you accept their request, your friends then will be able to see your private data every time they visit yourname.tel.
For example, you can set your work phone to public and your mobile and email to private

Advanced privacy

You can also choose which information specific people see.

For example, you can allow your spouse to see all your data, but only allow your boss to see your email address.
